TNO presentedย their research on harnessing energy from the Wadden Sea and North Sea coast on January 31th. Rob Jetten, the Dutch minister of climate and energy initiatives, receivedย the introductory copy of the report in The Hague.ย The study was supported by the a.o. the Waddenfonds and Invest-NL and covers the potential of energy from waves, tidal and salinity gradient for the Wadden area.
Symphony Wave Power is one of the innovative technologies that contributed to this study, demonstrating its potential to provide the electricity needs of the Wadden islands and a large part of the Northern provinces of the Netherlands by wave energy. With support of JTF funding ( Kansen voor West), Symphony is making good progress with building up its prototype that is planned to be operational in Velsen-Noord around upcoming summer.
